Medical Student- 3rd year
Maeliss Gelas is a 3rd year medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix preparing to apply into psychiatry, with the ultimate goal of pursuing a fellowship in neuropsychiatry. She received her BA from NYU where she majored in Biology with a Creative Writing minor. She is currently working on her Certificate of Distinction in Health Humanities, with a focus in narrative medicine. She met Dr. Gallitano in her second year of medical school and was struck by her professor’s enthusiasm and tenacity with respect to psychiatric research. She enjoys poetry, classic cinema, and making cartoon strips.
